Word Count Journal →
scout: lovebot: sleepanddream: holga: So, you know, I’m always behind on these things like this, but I’ll share it anyway. “Word count journal is a new blog format where you write one word your first day, two words the second, three words the third, etc. By the end of a non-leap year you’ll have written a total of 66, 795 words, more words than most novels. Who’s up for it? Reblog with...

– House I responded really strongly when Hugh Laurie spoke these words on the rerun of House I’m currently watching.  I feel like that’s a bad sign.

The gym at 7pm is so much more appealing than the gym at 7am. Especially when you have many stresses. Or stressors.

Textcast →
sparo: Textcast turns any text — documents, web pages and entire blog feeds — into personal podcasts you can listen to right on your iPod and iPhone. I haven’t tried this yet but I have to say, if it works, my life is about to get a whole lot better.

Independent Lens . GREY GARDENS | PBS →
Emily, my roommate, and I watched this incredibly documentary last evening about the adaptation of the documentary Grey Gardens into a Broadway show.  I’m sad to admit I missed the show (I spent the entire time watching it thinking, “WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? HOW COULD I MISS THIS?”) but you need not have seen the Broadway production to savor the intelligent and very moving...

Looking for a good book - FICTION ONLY - to read...
noraleah: mandalay: As I read so much boring non-fiction every day of my sad work life.  Interesting, complicated stories with cool characters preferred. No historical fiction (ew). Nothing geared towards men (comic books, cars, the like). Nothing very chicky (shopping, how to catch a man, etc.). After that list, I’m pretty sure I’ll be left with nothing to read but the internet. Now that’s...

United Nations: First Gay Rights Declaration Wins... →
smalltowngayblog: How appalling and truly shameful that rather than standing with all 27 European Union members, as well as Japan, Australia, Mexico and three dozen other countries, the United States opposed the UN declaration denouncing the criminalization of homosexuality, which in some countries, includes torture and the death penalty. I’m so disgusted.

What Obama said this morning, re: Warren
soupsoup: chuckmore:apsies:butnotmine: PETER SLEVIN, WASHINGTON POST: I have a question about pastor Rick Warren. He holds a number of social views at odds with your own views and your strong supporters. I’m wondering what went into your decision to choose him for this prominent role as you embark on your own presidency at a time when you are dotting every I and crossing every t to send some...

here's an idea:
closertotheocean: In the 1970’s, as a form of “protest” LGBT people wrote “gay” and “lesbian” on all of the paper currency they spent in order to demonstrate how much they contribute to the economy. I think this is sort of lovely and sort of empowering but still makes me a little uncomfortable.  Thoughts?

More Scott Adams for your candy ass. →
adeandabet: fatmanatee: The entire entry is worth a read, but I like this: I eat a lot of meals out, but it’s mostly for convenience. After most restaurants go out of business, which should happen in the next five years, people might start cooking group meals. It makes a lot more sense for your family to make a big pot of mashed potatoes and meet the neighbors for a group buffet. That’s...
